@avclub-0874d98b2ded08e831644f34ecf0f989:disqus "And choosing, out of all the women in the whole wide world, to pick your son's sister to be his step-mother, is gross and selfish."

That makes more than a TINY amount of sense.

It feels really crazy and unsettling to me that, as deeply involved in pop culture as I am, I have never heard of Animorphs.

I know it's pretty much a cliche to be annoyed at remakes and adaptations at this point, but the Oz books were a big part of my childhood, and man all this stuff looks so terrible.

Well said.

As I mentioned in another comment, Walt's early seemingly inexplicable choice to refuse help from his former friends and continue cooking meth (only made somewhat explicable by character development that happened much, much later, including new info revealed in Season 5) was a major stumbling point for me.

re: "grounded story of a very flawed man"

This article is fascinating to me. I've always had a difficult time articulating why Breaking Bad is not one of my favorite shows, when everyone else seems to love it SO MUCH. If you take out all the parts of this article where it says "but somehow it works because it's great!" then it explains quite well my problems

I went to Atlanta once. It was fun. We visited some kind of Coca-Cola museum/factory-type place, where we drank soda samples from all over the world. Some were quite tasty, though some were pretty gross, at least to my palate. Following that I had a stomachache!

Nope, that's when I started feeling the fury. "You keep away from Waddles, damn you!"

Very interesting information. Thank you!

Recently I tried to make a list of my 10 favorite TV dramas, and while most are fairly obvious (Mad Men, The Wire, Freaks and Geeks, Deadwood), I was a little surprised with myself when I realized Quantum Leap needed to be on there. It may not be as ambitious as some of the modern more serialized

In theory, I'd love to see Fiona Apple at the Disney Concert Hall, but I don't know…

And Toby Huss! Always happy to see Toby Huss working.

A beautifully shot and incredibly well-acted show, but one which was held back by weaknesses in the writing, and, in my opinion, an unceasing grim tone. Yes, it's a dark story, but a story that's attempting to reflect reality should have some moments of lightness or humor here or there, because reality always does. I

Haha! I've been reading all these comments wondering when that was going to come up.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! Sounds like I'm OK to move on. I have a lot of other shows I need to watch. Season 2 of the Shield is next…

I do pretty much all of our laundry, and while I don't know any rules about which materials can be dried and which can't, I just look at the label of each article of clothing as I'm moving it from the washer to the dryer and set "Dry flat" items to the side. It's time consuming, but it works.

Sometimes I look at lists of movies that are coming out over the next several months, and more than once I saw "R.I.P.D." and my brain mixed it up until I assumed it was an adaptation of "B.R.P.D." (the Hellboy comic).

I didn't love The Breakfast Club up to that point, but when that happened it completely killed it for me.
