Is it offensive when lesbian characters glibly decide to have sex with men? I was a bit annoyed with The Kids Are All Right for that reason. Though I'm a straight, white man so maybe it's none of my business.

I assumed this was just one of those forgettable January movies (e.g. Man on a Ledge), but for whatever bizarre scheduling reason Harry Knowles said it was one of his Top 10 movies of 2011. Now, I am in no way saying that means it's a great movie — I frequently disagree with Knowles — but considering the guy watches…

Because HBO On Demand is putting up six Deadwood episodes every single week, and only leaving them up for two weeks, I've been watching at an incredible pace. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I definitely would slow it down a bit if I could, but I wouldn't say it's ruining the show.

I guess I've seen 10 or so of the nominated films across all categories (though, in fairness, I saw Kung Fu Panda 2 on a plane and fell asleep for a few minutes in the middle, so maybe that doesn't count), and only 3 of the Best Picture nominess. It IS awesome. It's incredibly juvenile in spots, true, and is basically just a mash-up of different NES games for nostalgia's sake, but what's wrong with a little nostalgia once in a while? Maybe it's because I play very, very few browser games, and thus I don't know any better, but it's the best one I've played.
