Beverly Garland AND Van Johnson?
Wow. Two MST3K actors this week.

Gabby Hayes big.

When you're down in the dumps try on Judy's pumps!
Wow. I read about the 89 Oscars in the book "Inside Oscar" (one of the funniest chapters in any book ever) and they were not exaggerating. Jesus Christ.

Or infectious diphtheria.

Atomic is closing? Fuck! I was usually too intimidated to go in there due to my intense dorkiness but damn. I know lots of people who love that place and I bought Exile in Guyville there. It'll be missed. Perhaps there will be a Suburpia-like resurgence somewhere down the line….

Hamlet 2
Was Hamlet 2 not eligible or something? I mean it wasn't brilliant or anything but I thought it would at least get a best screenplay or a best actor nod.

Bravo JVS

Hey!
It's that guy that isn't Polanski!

That one really bothered me too. It's too bad because the Bazooka Joe article last week was one of the funniest things they've ever written.

Isn't Sarah in Follow That Bird? In, which case, no, not SB's best movie.

What about Falling Man?

FRED BURROWS!!!!!!!

mrs. izzard- I can't find the interview at the moment, but I'm almost positive that Gervais said the "Pete Gibbons" thing was a shout out.

Looking back I really didn't express myself very well. I'll try again.

I still kinda want to see the "Black Freighter" stuff too, but I just hope they find a way to work it into the main film. (I realize that my last post was a little argumentative. That was me being pissy at Snyder, not you.)

Well how are they going to tie in The Black Freighter stuff if they are going to cut the artists on the island bit? I know that it will appear as an extra on the DVD, but it seems to me that for it to even appear as an extra it has to tie in with the rest of the movie in some way.

I've watched it twice and I still don't get the Colin Firth joke. I'm really only familiar with his more recent work (1995+), where he usually plays a guy who is thrown over for a Fiennes brother. What am I missing? Or is the fact that he usually plays decent not particularly erotic characters the joke?

It's about 5 dollars at Amazon, which is a great deal, especially since the paperback has a bunch of extra stuff that was denied those of us who paid retail for the hardcover.

"What we Talk About When We Talk About Raymond Carver and John Cheever having Sex."

She can be pretty damn funny.
