You know, Bender is a funny character. There is a lot of fun stuff to be done with him. But to be honest, the show just doesn't work with him front and center all the time… The show worked best when it was more of an ensemble piece where any random episode could be supported by any of the characters or any pairing of

Good point… Was the League right in removing the Justice Lords entirely from their version of Earth? I guess it was rather convenient that we never saw that version ever again…

But really… they weren't "Evil" - they never set out to do bad things. They set out to do what they thought was the right thing to do, just did it the wrong way… Their morals were flawed but they were not really "Evil" in the sense of supervillains…

I think it's the difference (or at least used to be) between DC and Marvel. Marvel has human level heroes that descend into anti-hero status from time to time. DC had shining paragons of what heroes were like - characters that might make tactical mistakes but never moral ones.

Games shows and I parted ways when I turned on the TV one night and saw an entire show devoted to people posing so that they could get through a wall… I suspect things have degenerated from there even more.

I have to say - I gave this show a second try and skipped ahead to roughly mid season 2 (Just grabbing a random episode from netflix). I do see that it became much better after awhile. I had mentioned in a review of an earlier episode that I had tried it when it was first on the air and gave up after roughly episode

"Pileggi plays this scene so goatishly it’s as if he’s liable to grow horns and start eating tin cans at any second, but just when it looks as if Ann may permit him to have her way with her" - Wow… I was unaware of Pileggi's changes in recent years!

"If memory serves, it's a good one"… When discussing the golden years of "the Simpsons" that sentence might as well be a given.

I must admit - I left the show before the end of the first season and left TV in general in search of streaming/DVD's long before it hit Adult Swim, so it may have mutated in the meantime…

I never "got" this show - I mean, I grok where the humor is supposed to be coming from, I actually kinda like the artistic choice of the squiggly lines and the characters were always well performed… and i liked "Dr Katz". So when this first came on the air I was willing to give it a shot. And I tried… and tried a
