You see, I felt the opposite. I have nothing against a dark and mature show, but I felt it was always at it's best when the town of Eureka was really just Mayberry with smarter people in it… There is a place for a show that doesn't try to challenge the viewer. It might never be on the list of "Must watch" shows, but

It was a good show. One of those comfortable little shows that never overplayed it;s hand, never really went for anything too dark or mature but never became too silly either and was always just there to watch when one felt like being in the mood. It had it's continuing storylines but they were usually in the

I have to say… I like Garibaldi and everything but every time B5 decided to spend an episode focusing on him it felt like the show was dipping way too far into that "He was a drunk and his one love from the past is coming back to haunt him" well. The other characters actually got a breadth of plotlines but Garibaldi

Colin Baker and his take on the Doctor had all the possibility of being very good. His time could have marked a real chance to reinvigorate the show with a new take on the character. And Colin Baker could have pulled it off. But then the show got saddled with just one grim and repugnant script after another, bland

I cannot wait for "Ghostlight" to be covered. I came into the series during Tom Baker (Like most of the PBS'ers did in the US) but I came to personally hold Sylvester McCoy as "My" Doctor - the show was doing some incredible stuff in his last season and I wish it had been allowed to run it's course. "Ghostlight" is

Although - and this *has* to be mentioned - both the Doctor and Peri needed to have a lot of material to cover up the expanding middle of the series…

Let's put it this way : It's nice to see Koernig get a role that allowed him to ride out the rest of his career with better memories than "He screamed real good."

One other thing that was baked into the DNA of the series : George Sr does business with Iraq and Hussein… George Jr (Gob) is a complete and utter idiot who simply is a figurehead for Micheal who works behind the scenes. Apply the the Pres Bush 1 and Pres Bush 2 and Cheney.

You know, the fact that Katsulas was able to act through abotu 2 inches of makeup and still make the character as well defined and emotional as he did says somethign about his abilities… And the fact that Jurasik was able to take Londo from being a complete bad guy and into the realm of tragedy says something about

They did… but the difference was, B5 tended to use that baggage as a way of defining its characters and their actions form the start whereas really only Kira and Odo had that in DS9. DS9 is great TV, don't get me wrong… But B5 just ended up handling that sort of thing slightly better is all.
