The script is practically written already
Or at least the idea for a truly awesome new direction is there. In the second Bourne book, he essentially goes on the offensive. Some dude is out there knocking off big-wigs in Hong Kong (in the books he's an expert in Asian languages and history) and calling himself zomg!

ah, then I stand corrected. Regardless, the experience of playing that game was equivalent for me, in many ways, to watching an excellent Pixar or Miyazaki movie. Somehow I doubt the movie will have the same staying power for me.

If by "mediocre videogame" you mean "arguably the best of the decade" then you're correct.

They wanna make a TV show
…at least according to the wikipedia.

great, but I'm such a nerd and I was bothered…
by the fact that irl the state government would not be the one doing any of the budget slashing. I realize it's just a plot point and you know, it's TV, but it's sorta one of the founding principles of our democracies that localities are free to screw themselves up

Alison Brie…
was the co-host of Attack of the Show last week. It was pretty good, and if I didn't think that it was sort of a step down for her I'd say that she should take over when Olivia Munn's ego inevitably compels her to throw her meal-ticket.

I wish they tried harder at the little things
Go ahead and call me stupid or whatever, but I do enjoy watching this show. It's marvelously dumb and Joseph Fiennes is the hammiest actor in the universe, but it has Harold and it makes me feel smart cause I know what's going to happen about five or six episodes before it

One of the reasons that artists make serious stuff like this is so that people can relate to it in some way and hopefully learn something that informs their decisions in the future. Here we have a film made for American audiences that portrays American soldiers acting in a less-than-honorable way. (like Avatar!) The

Ah, yes, Dave92 feels the need to tell us that the Japanese soldier deserved whatever he got in the creek because of what his compatriots were doing thousands of miles away. Indeed Nanking and other incidents of Japanese brutality are striking examples of the cruelty that festers under a fascist dictatorship.

Ayn Rand and "good writer" mentioned in the same sentence? I'm sorry, no. Good writing has characters that are believable and have human emotions, rather than cyborgs that spout half-baked, mis-understood Nietzsche.

Dunces with Will Ferrell probably wouldn't work, although Stranger Than Fiction was pretty solid so I wouldn't totally rule it out. Jack Black comes to mind, although he's probably a little too self-aware in his acting to pull off Ignatius correctly.

Perhaps "tolerate" was a strong word to use, but the whole point of the series is to give the uninitiated a sampling of artists that are representative of the genre enough to give you an idea if it's worth your time to explore it beyond just those few.

TMGE is (was. the guitarist died recently) actually fairly mainstream. Look them up on YouTube and you'll find the live videos are all in huge stadiums.

Elf and Enchanted
USA is showing these movies back-to-back this weekend, and after having seen Elf before and Enchanted just now, I have to say that while they aren't Citizen Kane or anything, they are very serviceable sweet movies and a heck of a way to spend a few hours.

All that stuff you wrote about FMF? That's how I feel about Where the Wild Things Are.

Simcity 4 is 6 years old and is still by far the most entertaining and complex city-builder out there. Custom content has kept it running far longer than one would have reasonably expected.

The thing about the later books was that even with all the talking and wandering around the country-side, there were generally one or two set-piece battles that were just pure fantasy-geek heroin. Winter's Heart had the Rand and Nynaeve healing the taint (snicker) while all the other wizards tossed fireballs and shit

They needed subtitles for Jimmy O.

Two episodes left. The way they sold the next episode in the preview was really confusing.
