I thought, "it hurts our health and safety?" Then, "oh, they'll step on our faces with jackboots."

I'm gonna go crazy and say The Limits of Control. I know.

She IS British.

Well now.

I love this thread, you beautiful bastards.

I remember some of my high school friends playing an acoustic record of Mayer's before I ever heard him on the radio, it must have been in 2000. There was a line in there where he praised this girl for being "artsy" because she could "distinguish Miles from Coltrane". We're talking about two different instruments.

That's probably his weakest novel, Staircar, in my opinion. The Rabbit books are as good a starting point as any, but I would begin with some of his short stories. "Museums and Women" is a great collection, or "Olinger Stories".

You're right, Terry. He said himself he used those books to comment on America at the end of each decade- the 50's, 60's, 70's, and 80's. Rabbit Redux is my favorite of the four, because of that attitude of wholly unironic cynicism about what was happening.

Updike was a great lover of women and their bodies. Not just vaginas: he could craft a portrait of a woman's ankle that would break your heart. I've read almost all his novels, Phil Collins; some are brilliant, some not quite. I would humbly suggest his "Early Stories: 1953-1975". If those don't suite you right down

I believe you'll find plenty to like, Idiot. Particularly Visiter. Their second record didn't do as much for me.

Everything about this says anger. Except maybe "More Radiohead news".

It'd make a grown man cry like a girl
to see the guns dyin' at sunset.

It's rolling downhill quickly.

Destroyer is the best side project of New Pornographers. I believe that.
