This sounds suspiciously like the beginning of an action movie. US. President visits prison with film crew, inmates riot, take president hostage, leaving only a wrongly imprisoned ex-special forces convict to defeat the bad guys and rescue the president. I swear I've seen this somewhere.

It did seem like he could no longer hear praise as anything other than fannish squealing. Very tired and worn out. I understand, I snap at people when I run out of patience, but I'm less understanding when I'm the target.

I'm sure dealing with fans is tiresome and annoying and I do sympathize. Insulting people at signings is pretty impolite though.
