Just remembered that they hired the rattlesnake guy from Ft. Davis, a neighboring town, to clear the set of snake every day.  That got everybody's attention.

I rented my house to Paramount for the film.   No Country For Old Men was filming in the area at the same time and got the jump on all the hotel rooms. Cinematographer Robert Elswit stayed in the place and was a very nice guy.  I only saw DDL once, he was sitting in his car while he wife Rebecca Miller was out pumping…
