Mr. Hermateeowish I think you've got the scale wrong.  I'm not sure, but I think that Westeros is supposed to be the size of Great Britain, so Pentos to Qarth would only be, like, Amsterdam to Venice or something.  
But yeah, the different story threads are def moving at different speeds.
