Yes to the Ronnie James Dio albums with Sabbath, and a general no to Dio the band (aside from a couple of singles, and the cover artwork to "Holy Diver", which I plan to blow up to a mural for my bedroom).

To confirm, the Netflix disc I rented was the standard edition. The cane-rape is in there, although not explicitly shown, which I'm guessing is what you're describing. I still don't understand which is the original cut; if the hardcore footage was shot on location, or if it was post-production inserts, standard

Correction: they called themselves the Killer "Dwarfs", making their grammar as boneheaded as their music.

There was also the Killer Dwarves, one of the shittiest hair metal bands of the eighties. Oh lord did they ever suck.

Severin released it a few years ago, and Netflix has been renting it for as long. I saw it right away, and don't regret it at all. I even made a little tribute video by mashing it up with the Atari 2600 "Reactor" theme:

I'm not necessarily slagging it; I like silly movies. I'm a big admirer of "Deadly Friend" as well.  It's just strange that those three directors, who made some of the most intense and visceral horror movies of the 70's, ended up doing the filmic equivalent of Saturday morning cartoons in the 80's.

I have no nostalgia for Lifeforce, because I saw it for the first time a few years ago. Didn't do much for me. But I can see how watching it multiple times on cable as an adolescent would lead to some personal attachment.
Between him, John Carpenter ("Big Trouble in Little China") and Wes Craven ("Deadly Friend"),

"It's happened before…. it's happening again".
That's your tagline? it's like a truncation of "this movie has already been made several times over, and here is yet another one. It is just like all the others. Go see it in January if you want, I guess."

Not a fan of the sequel at all. But I'm pretty sure I'm not a fan of anything Tobe Hooper has done other than the original TCM (perfect), Eaten Alive (near-perfect) and the Funhouse (flawed, but still a good time).
