To clarify (spoilers) -

-I should have put SPOILERS.  Sorry!

For me, the show ends here.  The characters change so entirely it's best to think of it as a re-boot rather than a continuation.

There's something perversely engaaaaaging about this subset of really, really bad arguments.  I hold off, until the nerd rage overwhelms me.  I identified with every part of the Liz Lemon plot.

Set up men are middle relievers.

One thing that shouldn't be undersold, though, if you're watching for the first time, is that the first 4-5 episodes are pretty damn boring.  The plot really only kicks in with "Lost Girls", and even then it takes a couple more episodes to get going at the traditional insane TVD pace.

Poehler's work with UCB before SNL was amazing, though.  So I always figured that her hit-and-miss SNL stuff was a function of SNL more than her.  And I was right, because she's the bestest.  Objectively.

Eckstein was actually a sabermetric darling - he had no plus tools, but he drew walks and HBPs, and he somehow hung on at shortstop despite a below average arm.  He was cut by the Red Sox (pre Epstein / Bill James) from their 40-man roster despite having put up OBPs above .400 in three of his four minor league stops.

Yeah, I don't think the drama is necessarily defused by this reveal.  If Sam is just another good guy the team needs to help out, that's indeed boring, but if Sam's still out for himself (should we really trust the child-abandoner?), that should be a good through arc for next season.

Andrew Rannels was the original lead in Book of Mormon, and brilliantly funny.  I was excited to see him get a television show until I learned all of the other details about said tv show.

I wanted the storyline to be Inara helping him get to the point where he could accept himself and by way of so doing maybe find a place for himself in this rugged "man's man" type of world they lived in. Obviously, at this point that takes on the look on fanfiction instead of anything realistic…
