Boober Fraggle

The Muppets Valentine special is complete and utter sap, and seems like it was beamed out of 1968 rather than 1974 with the yellow set. Mia Farrow puts forth a performance that shouts "I'm seven months pregnant and therefore can't really move on the stage". (Was she with Woody Allen at this point?)

As someone who was a giant fan of Garfield in middle school (I still have 40 books to prove it), the strip was at its best from around 1980-1983, then sort of fell apart in the mid 80s (suspect while they were developing the TV show), then got better again from like 1989-1994. It has been consistently awful since

That is a good point. I really don't know what they could have done with the Muppets, since they don't talk and all. I read online that they were pinch-hitting for a guest who bailed on the show very late, so I think it made sense to bring in an act who could just step in quickly.

I agree. I'm a pretty cold-hearted insensitive human being, but I can't bring myself to joke about somebody's suicide. Clearly he was dealing with some problems that were a lot larger than anybody realized.

It's funny to think that those guys could have gotten on TV back in the day so often. I'll admit I was bored by their sketches on this episode; I think the whole point of having guest stars on The Muppet Show is so they can interact with the Muppets, and there is little to none of that on this episode.

I liked seeing how sad-sacky Gonzo was in the first season. I can see why his character was widened greatly, and his puppet was changed accordingly, but I think his obsession with Miss Piggy works pretty well in this episode.

Sadly enough, I never started watching TRL until like 2006, when the kids I babysat after school started watching it. It was long past its glory days and didn't seem to really be serving a purpose except flailing around. I distinctly remember a show grinding to a virtual halt one day because they announced Anna Nicole

I was watching "The Price Is Right" once and this dude passed a showcase with a car to the other contestant and then his showcase was based around a trip to Space Camp and an outdoor kitchen. I've never seen such profound disappointment on television before or since.

MeTV is killer. In my neck of the woods (southern CT) we have MeTV and RetroTV, which is basically the same channel. Airs stuff like "Three's Company" and "Too Close For Comfort", while MeTV has cornered the block on MTM sitcoms. I love that I can watch "The Bob Newhart Show" now.

I was hoping it would get rolled out in April, DAMN IT.

What's gonna come out first: her new album or D'Angelo's next album?

I nominate Festival of Dreams to replace Smile as the next great lost pop album.

That sounds horrific. Thank you for giving me a warning so I know to avoid said special on YouTube.

that's why I have a twitter.

I'm pretty sure that every person (including myself) who is an internet commentator is tormented with depression.

what about "pandemonium/causing pandemonium"? can't beat that for a hook line.

Clearly the anthropological roots of the Fraggle are more complex than previously thought.

Thank goodness I've never had this misfortune to see that footage. The entire band probably cried through the segment.

It definitely wasn't "Alligator Boots", which is some strange stuff. I found the article about and it was called "The New Neighbors" and about a family who discovers that their new neighbors are…. (you guessed it) puppets. Would have either lasted 1 episode or been the next "All In The Family".

As somebody who wasn't around in the 70s, watching "The Jeffersons" was really weird. Some local channel used to air reruns and I watched it expecting some social comedy like "All In The Family", but it was pretty blase marriage stuff. Florence did get the best lines by far though.
