I've enjoyed all of his novels.  Half-Made World is the best, though - great, great stuff.  Mieville is a good comparison (probably the most apt), though they lean a bit more toward the vagueness of magical realism than the more clearly defined worldbuilding of the Bas-Lag stuff.

Yeah for my money Thanksgiving episode is the highpoint of the series.  Goldblum as Ruxin's dad, the sorbetlingus scene, Ruxin home alone, Goldblum's O-face.
