On a "serious answer" note, anything before the words "genocide" and "ethnic cleansing" started being used tends not to be seen as that, and is thus taken less seriously.

To be fair, all those English soldiers and warships provided a good incentive for them to do so.

"Irish Farmer"? …the Loyalists aren't going to like this post.

Apparently Tokyo Police Club  is playing Canada Day in Halifax this year.  So that'll be sweet.

Goddammit, even the jokes about this show are too much for my brain.  Ugh scrub it clean!!

That's great.  Thanks for sharing.  I loved the part where she tried to describe Helena as "masculinely sexual".

I still maintain that there's potential for a great mob-story in a Gambit series. Basically everything they tried to do with Daredevil taking over Shadowland could have been done better with Gambit doing the same shit in New Orleans.

Did everyone see the hilarious Orphan Black season two "spoilers" posted by their twitter feed a few days ago?

I'm not keen on the way you're handling ties.  Why would you crown a "winner"?  Saying "I preferred movie X over movie Y" is one thing, but to declare a "true winner" alters the significance of the Palme by re-contextualizing the milieu that resulted in a tie-award.

I enjoyed The Trotsky quite a bit! The overall insane plot just worked for me, but I buy into a movie premise pretty easily.

Opinions are fine, but you included a dickish comment about the creators too.

If you need ideas about doing anything cool while you're here, feel free to ask me. Here's a freebie: Tom's Little Havana is a fantastic tiny bar that I highly recommend. It's won "Best Place to Drink Alone" like five years in a row, but it's also a great place to drink with people.

Joseph Howe doesn't think that's a funny joke.

I've never been to Kremlin… Next time I go to Belfast I'll have to check it out.  I fucking love the Stiff Kitten though. They have a board game night, a fantaststic sound system, and at least one of the bartenders knew a great deal about single malt whisky.

This is obviously a fantasy movie, because there is no reality where someone comes to Nova Scotia for work.  Have fun working at a call-centre Clark Kent! *sobs*

Its true.  We don't have IHOPs here.  Nor Denny's.  Nor Olive Gardens. And Red Lobster will hopefully never have the gall to try and sell us our own seafood.

Okay!

I know I'm replying three weeks after you posted this but…  I fully agree.  I just mainlined the entire series, and while I quite like it, I found myself surprised at the lack of development for the title character. Not that Jess hasn't been developed, because she very clearly has, but it's unusual for a title
