Humanity-free Elena was definitely interesting, but she was also the polar opposite of practical.

@avclub-519b02fcf268e5bb1ca64009341ff77b:disqus , I couldn't tag you in my response for some reason…

I may have overread the condition of her heart.

I don't really know much about Michael Crichton, but given the crazy anti-Japanese overtones of Rising Sun, I didn't exactly have him pegged as someone who used to be a liberal.

I guess, maybe? I've never felt obligated to pick up anything beyond my weekly pull on a FCD.  My contribution is inviting non-comicbook readers to come with me.

Re: "Something better suited to the ultimate books."

The great thing about what Caroline was doing, was that it only made sense as a final result because of Pulp Fiction.  As an audience, we're supposed to think "well if it worked in that movie with an adrenaline needle, it makes sense that it will work here with vampire blood right?"

@avclub-011d0b4fe6835bb3d37ef4e0ea713de6:disqus , I think people just like the actress' presence in the role.  I've never really been interested in her plots (I don't even remember what she was doing when she first showed up), but she's always felt like a very confident, well-realized character to me.

The show is changing settings though, so they'll have a completely new environment filled with new victims to go through.

Yes, the horror sequences were very well executed all around.

Silas-Klaus said "come to New Orleans" with me in a pathetic, plaintive way that originally made me angry because Klaus has never stooped to creepy begging, but then when it turned out to be Silas I was just impressed.  Morgan did a great job playing a different character by using vocal inflections that he doesn't

yeah, I gotta agree with you two.  Mystic Falls must have one of those experimental curricula where you can just do independent study for any subject you want, and attendance doesn't matter at all to the final grade.

@twitter-248919268:disqus , I'd like to join in on that bet.  Plec has made it clear that characters she likes get to stick around, it's why the originals have never gone away.  They clearly like Lexi, so I'm betting that she definitely gets another go at things.

@avclub-fc338fa43180570a8ea616e97bb20dfa:disqus ,

"Suck it forever Tyyyyler!"

WHY CAN'T I SEE HER TRUE FORM???

I would love if we saw them belong to less cohesive social groups next season.  The show started off with a a bunch of different relationships, but now all the protagonists are in this big mass of friendship.

That's the main thing I went on about in my first post: The episode's main plot was about Elena's issues, while off in the side-plot Caroline was struggling with the season's primary villain!  Since when is the "main villain" a side-plot?

I'm only watching these final episodes, and other than that haven't been paying attention to the show for the last two seasons; her performances are the one thing that I've really missed about the show.  She's fantastic.

No, actually critiquing the show is the right way to go.  I'm not saying that your opinions are wrong, but I am saying that you should get new opinions.
