The end actually sets up the sharkquake.

and her opinions are… kinda dumb sometimes.

lobsters is friends with Louis CK?

He loves the story, but he doesn't love, or get, any of the ideas behind it.

What is that a reference to originally? Is it something I should be embarrassed for not knowing?

I find it really dull, but it is sort of fascinating in that it feels like it was written in a weird way right after WWII, in that they treat US vs Japan as the biggest rivalry in the world and naval combat as if it is still relevant.

@avclub-5dedb42b34e50082065a783265ce28a8:disqus Did you read Soldier's Pay? It's the most soap opera-y thing you can imagine. Try diagramming out everyone who is in love with everyone else; it's more complicated than Trapped in the Closet.

I can imagine a pretty good film adaptation of Mosquitoes that strips out some of the characters and plays up the pretentious artists aspect.

“Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires." - John Steinbeck

or add Moroder to the soundtrack.

Hannibal's dream sequences are some of the best I've ever seen.

I'm completely obsessed with film adaptations, so I'm happy to hear about this.

whaaaat the fuck are you talking about

If there was anyone who doesn't think he's completely snapped, that should convince him.

It may not be the artist's fault, but it still can make me hate the song. I can't separate the song from the context in which I've experienced it, and I don't think there's a reason to try.

@avclub-4c562a922dda29172f86955ed505472e:disqus I don't know what show he's talking about, but I'm guessing he means Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da?

Yeah, I was really ready to like this, but it just feels wrong to me. Maybe just because I've listened to Black Skinhead eight thousand times.

FUCK Taming of the Shrew. I've spent far too much time reading people try to wrap and stretch it into some proto-feminist thing. There's so much great Shakespeare no one gets around to reading - when's the last time someone taught Cymbeline in a Shakespeare class? - that we don't need to waste our time on it.

I think ET is one of those eternal targets for parody. It served as the inspiration for one of my favorite Bob's Burgers episodes just this year.
