As someone who has been through it, keep one thing in mind: be forgiving.  Planning a wedding can turn the most low-key, calm individual (and their kin/compatriots) into an irrational lunatics.  The tide will swell and then subside.

My children all seem to like Johnny Cash and can sing along with a few of his songs.  I also let them listen to a good amount of my punk stuff.  But, I try not to limit them and I play plenty of classical and classic rock.
I keep them away from modern country, rap (mostly for the language and message), crappy "kid's"…
