I'm sure Terry has friends outside of work (until last season Jake was just his "work friend"), and Holt obviously has his social circles with Kevin, but other than that you're totally right.
Two of the main roads through my city intersect at least 4 times. One of them includes a North, South, East and West portion. Other streets are similar/y confusing.
If someone asks where you went to school, I would assume they mean the name of the institution. I live in the same city I went to school in though; it may be different if you're obviously not from the place you're currently living.
