Yeah, at that point I think Clooney's character just wanted to drink and maybe nail the anti-vax mom. He wasn't yet in the righteous speechifying part of his character arc.

Well, how else are you supposed to crack the pavement just by kneeling?

Not all of the origin story. The most important part of Superman's origin story is the part where he discovers the Kryptonian ship, encounters the AI of his father, and gets the blue suit, red cape. More than half of MoS is dedicated to origin story.

For some reason, I heard that line in the cadence of an Appalachian folk song.

Some days, you just can't get rid of a bomb!

But is it really a solid? When you come down to it, it's just light projected on a screen, with some sound waves for accompaniment.

Most of Lethal Weapon looked like a demo reel of someone trying to prove he could play Wolverine. Heck, the hairstyle he had for much of that period was fairly close.

They're compensated, but usually it's a relative pittance—I think it was $15-20 a day last time I served and collected it. They don't call it that, but it's basically meal money.

Length of trial doesn't (and shouldn't) have anything to do with the length of deliberations. I'm convinced that none of the people complaining about how long their deliberations to acquit were would've complained if it took them 15 minutes to convict him. If the evidence is convincing, it's convincing, regardless of

Too soon! But also, y'know, accurate.

I don't disagree with either assessment. [SPOILERS] The second bad ending is really only bad by modern standards—they hadn't revealed Clark's identity to Lois in the comics at that time, so taking that back was essentially a genre restriction. But yeah, the climactic fight is a mess, with Superman sprouting new powers

SPOILERS I hate that part of Superman, but Pa Kent vs. the Tornado is worse, because it's not just a clueless diversion from the story. It is the story!

Agreed on the love for Superman vs the Elite, but Superman II is a better film than MoS.

Bah. Spacey gave Singer exactly what he wanted in that movie. That performance wasn't phoned in, it was poorly conceived and written.

Oh, the trailers! I love Holly Hunter, but the Star Wars prequels should've proven that action cinema and Senatorial debate don't mix.

Yeah, I think the idea of jurors being against DNA evidence was mostly just an OJ jury thing. The irony of this is that Scheck's fame has mostly hung on arguments in favor of the reliability of DNA evidence, to overturn the convictions of people later exonerated by DNA evidence.

"Also, I'd bet the stats are quite different today, as shows are less black/white and more focused on strong concepts, storylines or pop culture."

I enjoyed that first season…the later ones, not so much.

Agreed about the creepiness factor—in a reversal of the usual dynamic, where people will go to embarrassing lengths to avoid jury duty, a lot of those people really seemed to want to be on the jury (at least initially). They wanted to be part of this circus. That's why people were "forgetting" domestic abuse incidents

Jury duty on a regular case isn't so bad. There's quite a bit of frustration, because the American system decides that there's information the jury can't be trusted with, and that leaves you with inexplicable narrative gaps.
