WORD
WORD
My 1.5-year-old, who has seen very little TV and never played on the PC is totally mesmerized by both of them on the rare occasions when he does have a chance to watch them. I assume most other little boys are similar.
What's shown vs. what happened
I haven't seen this movie.
"A Thousand Miles," Vanessa Carlton
Worst Proclaimers cover ever!
Explain, please
Can someone please explain what is good about that first scene? Seriously, I don't understand. I'm no film expert (I've never heard of this movie), and to me that scene just seemed unintentionally hilarious because of its blatant fakery. Why do people like it?
Planbee
Yeah, very choppy editing in this episode. Almost ruins it, in fact. I'm afraid this problem will be continue throughout this season, if I remember correctly.
Why the 2nd season died
"Backlash" is not the right word. That makes it sound like there was actually strong emotions involved. In fact, viewers just got bored.
Apparently, Rabin thinks this fun little revenge-fantasy ditty is "one of the most subversive songs to become a pop and country hit." Wow.
I also thought babies were ugly. Now I have one, and I realize that all are ugly except for mine.
Hey, I have nothing against Hall & Oates. They were the background music of my youth. They were always just there, a fact of life, like Casey Kasem. I can't say I loved or hated them. (Though it's impossible to flip the station if "Rich Girl" comes on.) They'd probably make a good theme for AI, but I don't really want…
Oh, and here's my ultra-specific proposal for a dated theme: 80's Europop songs about World War III, nuclear accidents, etc. (And the contestants must sing the songs in German.)
I think that's unfair to Shania, Claire. While I hated her music when she first made it, the fact is that she saw the new direction for mainstream country, and did it better than anyone else. (Haters, don't blame her for country's current poppyness. It would have happened anyway.)
Leonard was fun…
But it's nice to have Claire back and the snark level toned down from 11 to more normal levels.
After A Clockwork Orange, I read The Wanting Seed. It was interesting and freaky, a mix of science fiction and allegory. Just as memorable as A Clockwork Orange. I recommend it.
@cul-de-zack: She knows that. Whatever she is, she's not an idiot. Her whole thing is making up quirky dialog that never gets spoken in real life.
Kinky
I never really listened to his music (never bothered searching for it), but his books are good mysteries if you like random, inane, insane, plotless, pointless fun. Just don't expect to guess who done it, since he doesn't seem to care if any of it holds together anyway.
Singapore Sign
I used to live in Singapore and they have this sign in the subways (glad someone had the presence of mind to upload it to flickr). It's not a joke. The odor is intense.
3 times…
I tried to read this damn book 3 times, and never made it past 40 pages. And I was in my mid-20's, supposedly a perfect time to get into this stuff. I was really interested in the Beats at the time, listening to a lot of Dylan and reading Howl and other Beat poetry.
I believe that you are rightfully called "Doctor" when acting in that capacity, even if you don't haven't yet finished the degree.
Kid-scary scenes
As someone said above, the creepy empty-Enterprise-with-faces-watching was enough to freak me out when I was a kid, and thus I have a soft spot for this ep, but all the rest of it was so boring, I don't even remember it.
