I don't think Tony ultimately gained anything from his epiphany either.  Invariably, those groundbreaking realizations garnered from psychadelics either seem nonsensical or are half-forgotten once the haze wears off. Maybe it's partly due to Buscemi's presence, but I found those scenes to be very reminiscent of the mad, bloody aftermath of the botched robbery in Reservoir Dogs, right down to Eddie pulling a Mr. Brown and losing consciousness behind the wheel.

The Boardwalk opening is incredibly lame.  Also, why does Buscemi look so peach in the opening credits?  It's as if his make up was done by a mortician.
