I saw this in theaters without reading any reviews first, and I have regretted it ever since.  I am not a fan of torture porn, but even if I was I think there would be far more entertaining examples out there than this.  It's an awful movie in every way and it ought not have been mentioned again by anyone.

Hokum be damned, I really like the role that Bashir and Dax play in the early part of this episode.    The way they understand what's happening but can't fix it works as a metaphor for death even though we know a main cast member can't die, and therefore we feel the impact of Sisko's absence more than we otherwise

I vote yes, do "The Visitor" as its own piece.  Just reading the title is like a sucker punch to the feels, as Wil Wheaton says.

It strikes me that the title of "Family Business" is similar to the title of the TNG episode "Family," which is one of that show's best hours.  It was a stunning episode of TNG because it was, at least to that point in the series, nearly unprecedented for the ensemble (minus Data, since his family issues are

My wife and I both have January birthdays, and last year we devised an arrangement where we each got to choose a favorite DS9 episode to watch on our respective birthdays.  (DS9 is our favorite Trek series, but we hadn't watched it in a couple of years and we were in the midst of rewatching Voyager at the time.)  She

Have you not seen the Monty Python sketch where a couple goes to buy a mattress?  There's a great use of this song in that scene, too.

LOL, touche.

I always skip the Mirror Universe episodes when I rewatch DS9.  I find Mirror Kira uncomfortable, and everyone but Mirror O'Brien hammy, shallow, and annoying.  It's all so embarrassing, like if you went to school one day and all your teachers were drunk.  For a minute it might be funny, and then it would be

Don't worry, Richelieu Jr, you're in good company on the issue of Khan, and I'll probably always be in the minority among Trek fans in not loving it. Feel free to look past that line or two of my lengthy post and concentrate on the rest of it if you wish. :)

Well don't get me started, because I have a bag full of unpopular opinions on "Khan"!  I just don't buy that Kirk's reaction to Spock's death is particularly meaningful or offers any insights into Kirk's character or requires Kirk to "face death."  It plays well in the moment, while watching it, but leaves me feeling
