I remember being a pre-teen in the late 1970's, and randomly turning on my local PBS station one Sunday night and catching my first ever Python episode completely by accident. I was hooked within the first 5 minutes.

For some reason the over-the-top blood spurting in the Peckinpah sketch – along with the goofy gore in Holy Grail absolutely KILLS me. I'm on the floor, in tears, whenever I see that stuff. Not sure what that says about me as a person, but it cracks me up.

An excellent observation. Another way of putting it is that the Pythons were truly multimedia.
