I remember the signs theaters posted about not refunding people's money for "Drive" going viral. I can't even imagine being in a theater with some bros ready to watch The Fast and The Gosling.

Oh lord. I hate Faraci with the fire of a thousand suns, as he always mansplains and looks down on Amy'a opinion. He continuously proves why he's a piece of shit and how he continues to be a voice in film criticism is truly grating.
Thanks!
On the contrary, I think it's too attached to BWP to be anything else. It's not a case of "10 Cloverfield Lane" where it's basically grafted on to the franchise at the last minute. It's centered around the witch and borrows some beats from the original.
That is pretty much my exact opinion. It's a disappointment. We don't care about these characters as much as the original (annoying as some people found them), the technology is too much at once, the sci-fi twists aren't explored enough to be interesting. It's like they were aiming for it to be cult film where people…
After 17 years, you're still surprised people find it scary?
I don't think the creators put that much time thinking about it, considering TBWP movie was originally intended to be added footage to "Curse of the Blair Witch" faux-documentary until they made it its own thing.
From listening to "The Canon" podcast, it seems Wingard and the writer were drawing a lot more from their experiences from "V/H/S" than either "The Guest" or "You're Next."
MORE SPOILERS BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO SPOILER TAGS.
If you look up the background on the movie, it was pretty clear this was a hatchet job by Artisan.
It pretty much doesn't work at all. It's just another piece of technology that's bound to fail.
I wouldn't say this is boring, but it definitely doesn't have Wingard's distinctive voice on this. If you told me this was directed by some gun for hire like Colin Trevorrow, I wouldn't be surprised.
Actually it was a real historic house (Griggs House) that was built in the 19th century (don't know if it was updated or whatnot). It eventually got torn down in real life.
If people were forking over money for it, they knew what they were getting into.
Go on…….
Go on….
To be fair, it showed that all three actors were assumed dead on their IMDB pages. This was back in the day when IMDB didn't have much oversight.
But not after she almost quit acting because of Lindsay Lohan - The AV Club
You sound like a real joy.
It's not really a remake. More of a continuation.
