He's definitely deserving of a send-off.

But let's not bury the lede - Armisen's Obama was just an awful impersonation to begin with.
I mean, it's still really not a whole lot of sketches once you factor in two musical performances, taped bits, a commercial parody and "Weekend Update," which can run as long as it wants. You cut it to 60 minutes and you'll have like two or three sketches.
Is Jay better than SNL though? It seems like he only really worked well with impersonations, so it seems odd they let him go.
I place right alongside someone like Tim Meadows - always a very solid supporting guy with one or two great characters. I'll miss that we'll never have another Jebidiah Atkinson especially when we have to put with with the 1,000th iteration of "Kate McKinnon makes funny faces with a weird accent" character (and I do…
He's directing an Ah-nuld movie and, as we've seen, ex-SNL actors with his talent usually do pretty well outside of the show. I think he'll be fine. Still, this sucks.
That doesn't surprise me. Once Alanis flopped post-"Pill," Fiona Apple disappeared, Sarah Mac was considered adult-contemporary, Lilith Fair ended in disappointing fashion and the rest kind of just existed, it seemed like alternative really doubled-down on being in-your-face bro-rock by embracing nu-metal and…
That's pretty awesome. Didn't know that. For me, it was just the perfect station. A great mix of old and new. Fantastic personalities and a good mix of shows, including some recordings of live shows. I remember listening to them air some random Green Day concert and being blown away by it (I was a huge Green Day fan.)
I would love to digitally archive those (I'm a big digital archivist when it comes to that, since the history feels like it's been mostly lost.)
For that Oscar, the Academy Awards performance of TTYD remains one of the stupidest, weirdest performances. It showed the Oscars really didn't give a shit and they were just going to hand it over to "Evita."
Every time The Joker laughed for no goddamn reason, I whispered to my friend, "He's right. That was a funny joke."
I'd say their downfall came with "Follow The Leader." The "Freak on a Leash" video was their last good artistic endeavor. They more or less sucked after that.
I remember seeing him open at a concert I was at and just thinking how dull it was, especially since I was into Soul Coughing and that duet he did with BT. Then he broke out a DJ set and I cemented my thoughts of "Fuck this guy."
Eh, a Justin Bieber type is inevitable. As long as there are prepubescent boys and girls coming into their own, there's always going to be a fresh-faced teen with a team of solid producers and songwriters they're going to fall in love with. Tale as old as time.
Oh yeah, Octane plays nothing but the shittiest of butt rock.
STEUBENVILLE!?
I'm glad you reminded me of that moment. A really nice, understated scene.
Billy always needed that person to keep him in Chex Mix.
New Radicals is an interesting one-hit wonder case. If there's any band that followed The Wonders's career trajectory, it was them. They wrote one really great collection of pop-rock gems, got a hit and then the band imploded. Good on Gregg Alexander for soldiering on and getting nominated for an Oscar!
Third counter-point and this is strictly personal: The song came out the year a friend of many of my friends (who was, coincidentally a freshman in high school) committed suicide. It was the first time someone I'd ever known took their own life, so the lyrics really hit home for a lot of us. I believe there was even a…
