I know other Venture episodes have been proposed, but Victor. Echo. November. still fits the theme of competition (although not quite as neatly as some of the other episodes), and it's one of the finest episodes of the series to boot.

I have similar feelings about both Superman Returns and Ang Lee's Hulk: they're both good movies that happen to feature superheroes, but as superhero movies, they're disappointing…
My kids really dig Groo, but I think a lot of the run has not been reprinted (or is out of print)…
I agree with the folks who mentioned the Essentials/Showcase Present books. Also, I've had great luck raiding quarter bins at comic shops and shows - they're cheap, I don't care if they get destroyed, and I can dole them out a few at a time, rather than in book-sized chunks.
I remember watching the directors cut eons ago - spread out over something like 6 double-sided laserdiscs - and being really impressed with it. I'm assuming for this review you watched the theatrical cut?
I remember seeing that movie on opening day, and like 6 people from different parts of the theater simultaneously got up and walked out when the teddy bear board meeting started. It was rad…
Oh wow…I had no idea that this was in the works - Baraka is really gorgeous. There's a couple of screenings of a 70mm print coming up next month in Seattle, which is pretty damn exciting…
I can't recall for sure - my parents were film snobs, so they'd let me watch anything high-brow or artistic, figuring I would either be bored or enriched by it (which is why Chinatown was my favorite movie long before I understood exactly what the relationship was between Evelyn Mulwray and that other girl) - but the…
I'd rate the 30 Rock episode where Liz gets Floyd drunk on whiskey marinade (or something that) as the absolute bottom of that show's barrel - truly awful…
I think Gaiman's (and others who wrote similar pieces) argument makes some good points - you can't expect these books to come out like clockwork, not our bitches, etc. - but it isn't quite as clear-cut as that. They may not have a literal contract with their fans, but I think there is a bit of an implied social…
Does my brain lie to me?
In Knock Off, while the eel-whipping is occurring, isn't Schneider bellowing "Work that beautiful ass!" or something to this effect? Also, didn't Patrick McGoohan threaten a lawsuit over "The Colony" aspects of the film being too close to The Prisoner?
The Comedy of Errors
I've hung on to some mixtapes friends and old girlfriends made for me, but that's more for nostalgia purposes - I own most of the music from those that I'd want to listen to on other formats.
I dunno…it doesn't sound that gross when you describe it, but the picture of it in the bowl, unleashed from its steel prison…ugh…it makes me feel queasy…
I totally agree with you, Superdeformed. TDK was the ultimate gaming of the MPAA's system - it has never felt more to me like they just had some kind of checklist that they run down, with out actually paying attention to the film unspooling in front of their eyes. If they bothered take tone and context into account,…
Animated JB > Live Action JB
This rule extends to video-games as well - he was the most amusingly tolerable I've seen (heard?) in years with Brutal Legend…
I'm really sorry about that - I got back late after taking the family trick or treating, saw that there had been continued discussion and didn't recall the request from the original article that you wanted no comics spoilers. I was just trying to respond to your question about what I didn't like about the comic. You…
@Leonard - Well, I really liked the idea of a zombie survival story that wasn't focused on the cure or reasons, just on the long-term (or as long as possible) survival of the characters, but I don't feel that Kirkman or his artists delivered. Setting aside complaints about the character design or panel breakdown…
What about those of us…
…who dislike the comic? Any shot that we'll enjoy the show?
