When an actor decides to make it real and go full retard.

Oh Robeson is GREAT in it. I think he was totally in on the joke. He plays the role with such subversion, you get immediately that A) He's the smartest guy in the room and B) He knows it.

I'm glad you mentioned that, as it's another aspect of the story I have a problem with…the late addition of female characters, and the trite love story with Joyce. It all feels so out of place, like something that escaped from a Rodgers & Hammerstein production. It's a bit too problematic, what with the Oriental

Where it can be fatal is people firing in an area without a proper backstop. I've read of at least two cases where holiday revelers took to firing shots in the woods, and the bullet managed to escape the trees unscathed, to strike and kill an unwitting bystanding thousands of feet away, and never the wiser.

Curiously, it is also the volume Kubrick insisted theaters set their amps to…He was always about pushing it to that level, you know, one more.

Steak, whiskey and "Bridge on the River Kwai" is a helluva birthday.

Yeah it went bellyup last year, lawsuits are pending. A fucking joke (and I live in the area). I blame the name. That name is what I'd name a fest if I were a writer for a sitcom and I was trying to imagine the hokiest possible fest name situated in red state America.

Such a marvelous movie. I scratch my head at times, wondering why of all the Ealing comedies the Coens opted to remake, they went with the Ladykillers instead of "Kind Hearts and Coronets." They'd have done a good job with that one I think.

John C. McGinley as "John C. McGinley"

[Fires a gun into the air out of frustration]

Actually there is a KEY shot that explains a lot of Nicholson's motivations, at least for some, including me. It is necessary to see the widescreen version. Pan and scanned loses this key detail of composition.

Beats bearing witness to five John Denver Christmas Specials..

Ever seen "Sanders of the River?"

I agree this is a valuable element of the genre, but I think Clipton fulfilled that role much more ably, being a doctor witnessing everything. It's because his character works so well, that when he utters a line that should be an utterly hamfisted way to end a war picture, instead has great emotional power. I think

"The Shining" needs more polishing! All singing and no play made this a dull experience. I'd gladly give the two twenties and two tens in my wallet to get those three hours of my life back!

Alto:
I guess they finally made a caretaker out of me!
[Chorus of butlers]
But you've always been the caretaker!
Alto Solo:
Yes I was and always will be the care….TAKE…ER!!!!
[jazz hands]

"I'm rappin' Dick urging from hell to heaven, keep yo ass clear of room 237. Word!"

Julie Taymor to direct or GTFO.

It is recommended those in the front row not wear white socks.

The elevator of blood is gonna be a bitch to cleanup each night….
