Oh god. Did you ever read about how when Adam Pally auditioned for Happy Endings? He auditioned and then they told him that the character was gay and asked him to audition again, but he did it the exact same way.

Me and my boyfriend have a theory that half of the gay men that are crazy flamboyant are that way because that's just who they are, and the other half are because they think they are supposed to be thanks to characters like Jack.
Speaking as a former gay teenager (and current gay adult) I would agree with you. The gay characters were just normal kids - not super flamboyant, not super slutty, just regular characters dealing with regular things. It was nice to see this in contrast to a lot of other gay male depictions.
Queer as Folk was on for five seasons and The L Word was on for six on a 'fancy' cable station that far less people pay for than HBO. Looking should be fine.
When I worked at the nursing home, I saw one of the residents rip out a girl's weave after getting her in a headlock. It's not uncommon!
On top of that, it expresses the sheer hell of working in a hospital or particularly in a nursing home. Every single thing that has happened on this show - mystery poop, drunk co-workers, schizophrenic lady without her pills - has happened to me during my 6 years.
I watched this movie with my boyfriend, and he had the same reaction that you did, while I liked it, although not as thoroughly as this reviewer or some of the commenters. I could see people thinking it is boring - I felt it dragged a little in places and that god awful political van driving around made me crazy. …
Underwood said in an interview that she was contacted to play the part and isn't really interested in acting, but she now knows how very difficult it is. She said the first thing she had to do was memorize the lines, and THEN try to work on the emotional aspect of it, so I can see how her performance is a bit wooden…
I agree - but you know half of the viewing base for this were people who thought "Oh I remember her from American Idol! Maybe I'll watch it?"
They would have to go for something easily recognizable - I'm not a particularly huge fan of musicals and I know every word to every song in Sound of Music thanks to repeated viewings with my grandmother. Gypsy is a great idea - and lets make Benanti Mama Rose!
Where I work, I have my headphones in for more than half of my day, sometimes the entire work day - so for at least for music, particularly if you have a streaming service, it can be pretty easy to get a lot of exposure in a little time.
I thought the Jhene Aiko EP was great - how did you feel about the Saint Heron compilation or the Cassie mixtape? I think the Cassie album may be my favorite of the year - at the very least probably the album I listened to most. I am also surprised to see James Blake being left off of so many of these year end…
yet Fall Out Boy is in the top 10. You cannot take this website seriously when it comes to music.
She's really good in Winter's Bone, so I think she'll be around a bit longer. And as ridiculous as it sounds, she was great in the Hunger Games movie - she added depth to a part that didn't really need it. I think she's a better actress than some of the other flash in the pan ladies of the past few years.
I totally agree - you have rules and regulations but they are gone the minute something bizarre happens, like poop on a chair. And I agree that Dawn is not incompetent - she is actually doing her job fine considering the circumstances. She's trying to follow the rules in a place where that's not always the best…
I laughed so hard many times during this episode. Niecy Nash should get all the awards for this show. I said it last week, but this show is an exact depiction of what its like to work on one of these wards or in a hospital at all. When a patient or resident is acting out, ALL of the focus of everyone on the unit is…
What really rung true for me (from working in a nursing home) was how the 'oh, there's shit in the chair' was basically not scary or surprising but just annoying because you have to endlessly write about and THEN deal with it.
…so LOL GAY doesn't mean that it's funny because it's making fun of gay guys which inherently makes it homophobic? Or do you think lazy comedy that makes fun of guys making out is not necessarily homophobic but just weak and stupid? (I am really just trying to understand)
I don't know I would say that, and I am also a gay man. I'm not speaking for the community as a whole (and I know you aren't, either) but I think if you look at the guys in it, I think it's safe to say that at least that's not what the intention is, and whether it comes of that way is up to your own interpretation I…
I thought this was great, and having worked in this situation before, it was unbelievably realistic, including the mystery feces, the inappropriate fights in the middle of the hallway, the doctor having no idea who the patients are (and not caring) and particularly the last bit at the end with the sister. I hope this…
