sounds like you're…one of them.

It's funny, I almost brought up Immortal Beloved! That's one of the films I think of when I think of "good conducting in film".
Maybe it's an alien conspiracy?
Mozart in the Jungle has a fun premise, but the pilot was pretty dire. Bael is definitely well-cast as the Dudamel-type conductor, but his conducting was distractingly bad (not an easy thing to fake, like all those concert pianists in film shot with the piano covering their hands and lower arms).
I served Sarah Polley a glass of red wine at a TIFF event! She tipped well.
Scott Pilgrim (moreso the graphic novels than the movie, but definitely both) encapsulates Toronto pretty damn well. Also: Don McKellar's Last Night, and Orphan Black.
It's pretty darn good, and was very well received when it came out too.
CBC shows truncated versions of the games between games, and I've been really enjoying those. Cuts out some of the midfield stuff.
That's the same as Bowie's late-era output. I saw a bunch of people slamming Heathen when The Next Day came out. But I guess they had 11 years to think about it.
Yeah, didn't U2 have that awful critical thing where each album was viewed as massively inferior to the one that preceded it, only to be hailed as pretty good when they'd release another one? Until All That You Can't Leave Behind, I suppose.
It's on par with Achtung for me.
Where are their arms and legs?
It's excellent though! What really stunned me is how many of these childhood friends (close friends, even) had never been interviewed before. Like, John's art school girlfriend.
I could be a decent Gene! I'll think about it!
Pop is pretty good, but I like to think of it as the third album in a trilogy (Achtung, Zooropa, and it), much like Bowie's Berlin trilogy. Works better overall. Oh, and throw Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me in there too.
My fun(der)employment continues! I got laid off two months ago, and so far I've had some somewhat promising interviews but nothing concrete. Oh well. Back to watching Bob's Burgers and applying for jobs!
I personally love how he says "Shi-nee"
Yeah, Hasek led the mediocre 90s Sabres to only one Finals series, and he was the best goalie in the league (Only Brodeur and Roy could come close). You need a team that plays together to win — that's why the Rangers are losing, they've got a stronger roster overall, but their lines can't compete with LA's overall.
Huh, Zach Galifanakis was on Tru Calling? I do not remember that at all. I'd say a rewatch is in order, but…you know.
That's fine, it just opens the door for numerous True Detective spinoffs! True Detective Babies! True Detective: Los Angeles! And of course, Tru Detective, the True Detective/Tru Calling mashup that nobody knew they wanted!
