Pauline Kael was also a vociferous defender of the film.

@GoodShotLeibovitz:disqus  Well then, I haven't even seen that so for all intents and purposes we hold the same opinion! Hooray!

Ya ha! Books!

…I'm sorry I called you an inanimate fucking object.

From the source material, I agree that he's not who I would have cast right away (honestly, when I read the play the first time I envisioned a Phillip Baker Hall type), but his performance was so perfect in the film that it's hard not to see him now.

I've seen Doubt both on film and on the stage, and the filmed adaptation was stronger. The four "leads" (Hoffman, Streep, Adams and the unbelievably good Viola Davis) are pitch perfect.

I'm afraid I disagree on every count - incredibly strong performances from Koteas, Greenwood, Garber, and most of all McKellar (though he's understandably offputting)

Who on earth is atrocious acting-wise in Exotica? I think it's his strongest work.

@avclub-3db41011acc2d229176bf6a92202728d:disqus , I was born in Red Deer so when I was scrolling down quickly it gave me quite a jolt. This will go on my list of "times Red Deer was mentioned" along with a joke on How I Met Your Mother and the wrong answer to a million dollar question on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire!

The US Men's Hockey Team hosts! Enjoy the quick, easy repartee between Jonathan Quick and Bobby Ryan! And is that Ryan Suter I see clowning around in the background?

I think Talia Shire and Al Pacino steal that movie, performance-wise. Talia Shire was never better in the series, or in her entire acting career.

I thought his blank, stoner attitude was a fair take on Don John in Much Ado About Nothing as well. I might be alone on this one.

Did any Americans like Corner Gas? It's even a bit too much Canadiana for me to handle, and I'm from the prairies.

The Sens are solidly mediocre - they have a surprisingly good record of first series playoffs!

That "The Onion's Syrian articles aren't funny" post is some of the most dreadful writing I've ever seen. I'd rather read Upworthy than that.

I can physically leave the apartment fine, it's just getting back in that's the problem - anything with a window is pretty much the same as just propping the door open.

I'm more concerned I only have three beers.

I'm considering propping open my door with a rock and running to the grocery store, but that seems…risky

Hopefully they do! I've left messages with both of them and am waiting to hear back from them. Because, uh, I've got work and stuff.

My hope is by lifting the stigma on being trapped in your apartment, my courage will inspire others to "come out of the closet" (into the living room, but no further because you are trapped in your apartment)
