I want Cobie Smulders to be in classy romantic comedies, like the kind that Katherine Hepurn and Spenser Tracy used to make. Maybe Jon Hamm can be there too!

Shoreh Aghdashloo gave a stellar performance in that movie (I thought she was going to win), but I thought the film itself was weak and that Connelly was as dull as cardboard in it.

Munich is fucking excellent, though. I don't watch it and think "This was clearly just made to pander for Oscar votes", it's a chilling and effective thriller.

I don't know if it's super fair to call McCain a famewhore - I think he, like Giuliani before him, is a public figure with a good sense of humor. It's probably nice to have public appearances where you can just have fun, rather than being grilled on matters (trivial or not).

ZMF will forever be alright with me for his acknowledgment that Jackie Brown is amazing (due to Robert Forster and Pam Grier's ownage, presumably)

Not really inexplicable - they're tight, the songwriting's good, and it's a definite "right place at the right time" kind of thing. The people who complain about modern music in classic rock YouTube videos need something to listen to, after all.

I will say that I lack any real objectivity on The Sheepdogs because of my personal tie to the band, but if I can muster up some fake objectivity I'd say that they have a lot going for them (good timing is naturally one of these things, much like the equally derivative Black Keys). Do you really think they're scummy,

I didn't really know where to ask this, but is the AV Club going to review The Sheepdogs new album? I know it's bigger in Canada (#1 on the charts, in fact), but there's the Black Keys/Rolling Stone connection so I thought it might be a possibility.
