My friend worked at an import store that imported masks and stuff from southeast Asia. No one ever shopped there. She theorized that masks was not all they were importing from Asia.

It's just such a brilliant non-sequitur. It's sounds like, in some world, it might makes sense.

I have a huge amount of respect for Danny DeVito - appeared in a cutting-edge sitcom in the 70s (Taxi), became a decently well-known star (certainly was the go-to "this is a short actor!" for a while), work as an ambitious director of comedy and drama, and then finally back around to appearing in a cutting-edge sitcom…

The TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto has been showing French films (beyond the new wave), so a friend and me went and checked out The Umbrellas of Cherbourg on Saturday. Print quality was poor and I think there were missing scenes, but the music and visuals are so gorgeous that I didn't even care.

When I was about fourteen I read this big book of serial killers (because that's what teenagers do?), and the letters Albert Fish wrote were so terrifying that I had to stop reading the book. Absolutely horrific.
