Yeah, I always remember SPIN Magazine (remember music magazines?!) pondering in its year end issue why POP "failed," and noted something to the effect that U2 made a serious rock record that you could dance to, which in the end disappointed two audiences.

Yeah, but the difference is in the lyrics. POP is one of their more spiritual albums, and definitely more personal than anything they've done this the new album. The motifs of God and loss show up in a bunch of the songs.

A lot of these songs just hit so much harder live … it's arguable that the live and remixes of these songs are the better albums than the actual POP.

I imagine the meetings that go into creating shows like this are probably exactly like the meeting to create Poochy for The Itchy and Scratchy Show

Yes to So Fast, So. Numb. I'm not more than a caudal REM fan, yet New Adventures in Hi-Fi is one if my favorite albums.

The correct answer is … BOTH the Keaton and the Bale Batmen are best. The films each have a unique aesthetic to them, and tell a familiar story in two different tones.

… or maybe he'll shoot himself in the ass, while sticking his gun in the waistband of his Batman-logo sweatpants.

Is the Punisher making some sort of crossover cameo in this?

Maybe he had some homeless and mentally ill people do it … they're invisible most days on the streets of NYC.

    "Are you being ironic?"
"Dude, I don't even know anymore."

Well, they need all of that time to lay out the details of the plot that they will ignore or completely erase by some deus ex machina by the end of the season. Final scene - Jax finds out about Jemma's machinations, and as he is pulling the trigger to kill her, Tara shows up! She faked her death, and was in witness

Interpol and The Strokes are just so connected in my mind and heart … Both dropped near perfect debuts, followed up with 2nd albums that, as you stated, are less consistent but have higher highs (Evil & C'Mere and Reptilia & 12:51 are my two of my favorite songs from each band), and then fell off a cliff in the

Hey, I've always got time for Busy Phillips …

Get Off My Lawn me says that kids today like the newer episodes because they're broader, have less inside jokes and allusions, and are just generally less cleverly written than the golden age ones. Lots of dumb plots and dumb physical comedy.

That's why, I think, so many actresses of a certain age are doing much more interesting work on TV these says.

I dunno - Mark Ruffalo is usually a pretty serious actor, and he's The Hulk. Phoenix is kind of a weirdo, and I'm hoping Dr. Strange is written as a weird film.

To follow up on this, I also love U2, and I think that they still have some interesting music in them. But based on the endless producers that they have paraded through their studios, and the endless delays in releasing any new music, I think that they have let the desire to remain "relevant" to an audience that

Yup - "relevant" to his fans (and they are still legion, based on the concert crowds) is relevant enough for me these days. I of course love the old stuff, but I really do like, and am interested in, the new stuff he does these days, including his soundtrack work.

Hey, I thought Hesitation Marks was damn good. The kids may not be clamoring for new NIN these days, but I still think there is enough of an older audience who appreciates the new stuff.I know I do.
