    Hey, if every Republican sounded as reasonable and self-effacing as Cliffy, I think this country would be a whole lot better off.

    Not sure if it was meant to be ironic (I don't think so), but I enjoyed the sports talk. Would love to hear more sports talk radio with an AV Club sensibility, as a counterpoint to WFAN/ESPN mold (Steve Somers is gold, though).

    You've got Dead Seas, mate …

    I think his finest hour was the episode where he reconnected with his old girlfriend, and we learned about Roger's Hemingway-esque WWII years … if there ever was a spin-off I'd like to see, it would be the The New Adventures of Young Roger Sterling …

    Dig up the Comedy Bang-Bang Podcast from a few months back ("Suicide is Easy," I think the title is) with Jon Hamm and Paul F. Tompkins as Garry Marshall. Funny for 90 minutes.

    I think there's something to that. I definitely. I remember when I visited Greece, I was struck by how many fit, old men smoked their faces off. They balanced that by eating good food, and walking everywhere.

    But I think the point is that it doesn't matter to him if he is misogynistic, anti-semitic, or anything else - Don's about getting the job done, and I think that he'd forgo personal feelings if he could get an edge on the competition. I think that was shown with Peggy.

    Yup - a big concert is almost like a vacation for the wife and me - last year was U2 (and it was fantastic, at Giants Stadium); the year before was Coldplay.

    And yet I saw him a few years ago, right around Easy Tiger, and he was fantastic. I bought the ticket with breath held, knowing his rep, and he played a solid 2 hours or so, all kinds of songs, seemed very amiable, and even took a heckler in good-natured stride.

    I just read a day or two ago that they have postponed plans for a 50th anniversary tour due to worries about (of all people) Keith's health. There's been talk that his guitar playing has not been the same since his head injury. Anyone else hear anything like this? I mean, the man has taken such good care of himself;

    Seriously - where is the Random Roles: IronE Singleton? Apparently (according to IMDb), he was in Remember the Titans and Blind Side …

    Years ago, but when I was still in my mid-20s, I fell ass-backwards into a very brief relationship with a riciculously hot 19-year-old college student who I met due to a car accident, which is another story.

    My girlfriend was watching a particularity engaging episode the other day where Mark Paul Gossler [sic?] was raped … that Emmy snub must really sting …

    Throw in a reference to Saved by the Bell or one of the solo Kiss albums, and I think you've got it …

    Agreed - if I had a  band with my friends as great as The Walkmen, I'd be fucking around in the studio banging out half-assed covers of songs of  other bands that I love all the time … this is nothing less than charming. Can't wait for the whole album … hopefully it's nothing but half-asses covers …

    As a teacher, I think that Half Nelson is the only film that I think gets the joys and heartaches of teaching right … oh, and the crack addictions.

    Seriously - is she still a thing? A little humility, and a lot less pretension, might make this come-back seem a bit more charming …

    … and god knows, today's teens have rarely showed any interest in filming themselves or their friends pulling off all sorts of stupid antics, and being incredibly obnoxious …

    Well, Benny Hill did some amazing work on a bike in his time, as well …

    Well, to be fair, it could have been his evil twin brother, Rob Ryan …
