Am I wrong to say that Exile was better than several tracks on High Violet?
Am I wrong to say that Exile was better than several tracks on High Violet?
What a great idea! Thanks!
Sadly, I think that it is that braying jackass who will pay $10 or more to talk and text through Jack and Jill, and a theater full of talking, texting patrons is also a theater full of paying patrons. These shitty movies don't reach #1 at the box office because everyone is going to watch the story unfold; I think they…
It's been a long while since I've gone to see a movie in the theater or since I've gone to a live sporting event. The reasons for both are the same: I'd rather spend the money investing in the best home theater I can, and because I just can't deal with the increasingly sinking levels of decorum of people act in public…
Ryan Adams covered this as well, and it's pretty terrific …
I'll buy that. After reading Life by Keef, it seems that they banged out the songs that make up those three albums around the same time, so it makes sense that the last gasp of greatness would be spread over the three albums.
Yeah … I'm assuming that was tongue-in-cheek. I didn't think Bigger Bang kicked off a Stones renaissance …
Hang with Season 3 … I thought it dragged a bit, and really takes it's time meandering, but then finishes really strong. The show really makes the case for TV on DVD. And the final episode is just about one of my favorite Mad Men episodes.
Evidently HBO is a learned man. Now I really him …
About that … I feel that they throw the n-word around every once in a while to appear edgy, and dangerous … yet their ex-Confederate plantation owner hero conveniently freed his slaves a year before the Civil War. I think that it would have been a lot more interesting if the protagonist was an unapologetic slave…
I'm holding out hope for this show to get better, and I'll keep watching, because I love Westerns … but I've got a bad feeling that what Pan-Am/Playboy Club was to Mad Men, Hell on Wheels is to Deadwood …
See, I was thinking that Hershel might somehow be trying to come up with a cure himself, and these are his test subjects, somewhat like the vampires Will Smith was testing on in I Am Legend. Could this be possible?
"He played Flattus Maximus longer than anybody else in GWAR's history. "
I have always liked Coldplay, so there … but I find the shift in the band's perception by the media to be very interesting. This record has gotten mostly positive reviews from what I've seen, and even Pitchfork gave them a 7.0. Is this a backlash to the backlash?
I thought the same thing this morning when I heard this about the Killers. Like a number of bands I was excited about 10 years ago (Interpol, The Strokes, the Hives, etc.) they just petered out and became boring derivatives of themselves. This cover reminds me of their cover of Dire Straits' "Romeo & Juliet": pretty…
I'm pretty sure that I remember it being hailed as an ambitious, if not totally complete, attempt to move forward and reinvent their sound a bit. "Achtung Maybe," is how I remember a reviewer renaming it.
Agreed - it seems like I only ever listen to every other song on that album … but I really do like Talk.
My girlfriend and I thought WE were the only ones who would get that cameo! Hopefully there's no HIMYM flashback of her getting shot in the eye …
The tour guide was Dave Higgins, from the ol' Higgins Boys and Gruber show. Anyone else remember those bygone days of The Comedy Channel - MST3K, The Higgins Boys and Gruber, Night After Night, Sports Monster … those were seminal shows of my youth.
True - it is a bit heartening to see the old "vote with your feet" strategy at work. If only we used this more often with banks, gas companies, and the like, rather than just our home entertainment.
