It's as if his ears were … not living? Inanimate? What's the word I'm looking for?

God - the sneakers with the dress aggravate me to a illogical degree.

If by "portrayed a certain way in the media" you mean "their actual song lyrics and actual Tweets," then yeah, I guess this is a media conspiracy to paint them as amazingly immature, disrespectful to gay people and to women ….

Uh, yeah … that kinda was my point. As Crystal kingdom thuddingly pointed out, you can go to the well one too many times with these characters, but Last Crusade turned out to be great …

I, too, have had this conversation with friends … well, if I had to explain why, I wouldn't be on these boards …

That quick shot of of Lou reduced to an almost non-human piece of melted flesh … as mentioned before in these AV Club pieces, for all its faults, Rescue Me portrays the dangers inherent in firefighting better than any other show or movie about the job …

Yup - perfectly stated. If this show had a run of three of four seasons, it would be considered a classic. But now that the show's over, and we distance ourselves from the up and downs of the past few season, the show as a whole can be better appreciated as one of the better dramas of the past decade. Even with it's

    Genji -

Oh, and one more thing - I don't know about anyone else, but my lcoal Borders seemed to be a loud teenager magnet. Ironic, since they're supposed to be allergic to books …

I'm glad that this essay's tone was not "Yeah! Fuck the big-box corporations, man!"

Agreed, agreed, agreed! Just the Randy Watson scene alone is funnier than pretty much entire comedies that come out today.

I so wanted Boomtown to get picked by cable, ala that cop show with the guy from The OC. I thought the Rashoman [sic] treatment was a touch gimmicky, but still used compellingly and surprisingly well.

Will this interview take place at Cinnabon?

When I look back on 2011, I can't see how this thread will not be my favorite AVClub thread of the year.

Ironically, I was listening to Live from Reading as I read this … I haven't listened to Nirvava in forever. I guess Nevermind (and the band itself) has achieved such a monolithically mythical status, that you sorta forget that they are such a tight, loud punk rock band.

A question (and this seems to be the thread for it) - is there a great biography of Springsteen and the E Street Band? Not a huge Springsteen fan, but I'm a huge rock fan, and it just seems that this band could fill volumes … So - anything out there worth reading?

Yup - and I love Chabon, and have ready pretty much his whole canon … but mysteries is fucking terrible. Just read Manhood for Amateurs … lots of good stuff there, too.

Well, if Rolling Stone likes it …
… how could we go wrong?

    I wish I had a bit part in this film … a walk-on'd be just fine …

Well, the important thing is it has that John Goodman feeling, but since he's John Goodman, I'm assuming it'll have it in spades.
