But I do think that it's pretty brave to take a character like Don, who made you somewhat like him, sympathize with him, and understand him, and continue to devolve him (hopefully, only for the time being), into a growingly unlikeable guy, who is just another barely functioning drunk at work. Yeah, I think we need to settle down with the promos - I'm convinced that they're edited to promo completely different plot rather than the actual, next week's storyline. Based on last week's preview for this week's, we were to believe that Sally was calling Don, and telling him that she hates living with Betty.

    Not so easy …
The best show on TV tears it all down and gives us a somewhat familiar, but very altered version of its universe.

    Ending?
I kinda likes this episode (I totally agree with Todd's surmise that the show handles the concept of changing one's life pretty realistically) … which is why I found the ending so distasteful. The Franco/Janet hook-up assumption was ridiculous, but I thought that the ending was going to give us a scene of

Hopefully he trots out the Kodak Carousal in his closing arguments …

In my opinion, I think that The Shield showed the idea of actions/consequences better than any drama on TV. Even the best dramas sometimes let seemingly major at the time scenes sort of fade away and then drop from the show's consciousness, but the murder of Terry, in a way, informed all 7 of the subsequent seasons,

    Not much happening …
Perfectly sums up what I was thinking about this episode. I stopped watching watching Rescue Me a few episodes into last season (despite a great turn by Michael J. Fox (that was last season, right?)), and I was planning on catching up on Netflix before I watched tonight's Season 6 premiere. No

I couldn't agree more - I always thought that the slow reveal of the aliens - the footage from the Mexican birthday party, the quick glimpse of the one on top of the barn - was done very effectively, and very creepily.

Fair enough … it's just that people act like the gov't is asking Cameron to repair the hole. I believe they just asked him to use his tech to get better cameras down there, to try to get a better vantage point as to what can possibly be done.

"Gasbag entertainers"? Isn't Cameron something of an expert on underwater filming? Didn't he make a pretty impressive documentary on the underwater wreck of the Titantic? And while I don't pretend to know that much about it, I'm pretty sure that Kevin Costner has been quietly funding his company, which involves

I remember an interview he did with Spin last year or so, and he came across as such a combative, belligerent, pretentious prick - you know you're getting interviewed! You saw it on your schedule! Why act like it is a totally uninvited obstacle in your day?!

    Perfect analysis
    Todd -

The Jay Leno Law & Order Ref?
Based on the past few months, I have the utmost faith that NBC will fill Law & Order's time slot with class and quality …

@kthejoker … y'know, you might be right there … although Catcher does still hold a spot in my heart …

I couldn't agree more. Y'know, there was mention of Tim Burton and Billy Corgan in the AV Club over the past week or so, and I feel about them the same as I do about Chuck - ten years ago I thought these guys were visionary rebels, who really spoke to me. Now that I'm a little older and somewhat wiser (or cynical), I

What about you, lunger? You retired too?

    Best review ever …
"You keep hoping that Cube will shoot him." No review of this episode of 30 For 30 will top that line …

I always thought the same - that Kilmer should have been in the conversation for an Oscar nod that year. I really liked his take on that character. Memorably weird and affected, stopping just short of hammy and cartoony. I know that I still drop quotes from his Doc Holliday all these years later.

He is truly the Trip McNeely of '90s alt-rock …

    Most certainly does not suck
In my humble opinion, Pearl Jam are still one of America's best bands. They occupy a strange niche these days, as a hugely popular cult band, if that's possible. While they seemed to enjoy a resurgence of media attention with Backspacer, I still feel like they don't register as a
