    "relatively light on cheap pop culture gags"..? (During the parts when I was awake) I clocked baffling allusions to "S.W.A.T.", "The Six Million Dollar Man", "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Honeymoon in Vegas" (??!!)… All red-hot titles with the 6-year-old crowd, no doubt, but let's not go easy on this batshit crazy

    Always felt the going-to-the-car was a brilliantly realized metaphor for Hollywood (as in the industry) and more geo-specifically the San Fernando Valley - Morally unconscionable doings going on in darkened rooms behind closed doors while outside the relentless sun bakes blacktop and glints off automotive metal.  And

    Noel, your B+ for Shame maybe says more about the critical encomium it rode in on from Venice than the overall quality of the movie. It's reassuring that you're not being as breathless as the rest of the pack, but I don't think you give some of your reservations full-enough vent - The movie is beautifully mounted,
