The vinyl sequencing is really great. I was a little concerned about breaking up so many of the songs when, really, you could've fit both The Apostate and A Piece of the Sky each on their own respective sides. But the sequencing really compels the entire album forward, and the breaks for each song come at logical

I was into different types of music, but I didn’t really go to shows. I think over time, the exposure to rock and metal obviously changed my mind. And it’s funny, years ago I saw that ex-girlfriend. She was my first girlfriend, like, my high-school love and stuff. Years ago, I saw her and she was like, “Do you

Oh, I figured you were being tongue in cheek. To sort of continue the conversation, I haven't actually received my copy yet, but I ordered the vinyl and have heard that it has two bonus tracks on it, which I'm rather looking forward to. From what I've heard of it, it's probably my least favorite Menomena so far, but

So, who here got the "Special Edition" with the bonus DVD. It almost feels silly calling it a "bonus" as it's a full hour and a half of concert footage. I'm not sure how I feel about the editing, as it seems a little odd how the video cuts between different concert venues and even different songs/parts of songs at

But not everybody knows, just how fucked up you are. Well I know that. And you know that. But our purpose here is to tell EVERY ONE that.

That's a good album, but I'm not sure if it needs a review as much as this album did. Also, I'd like to point out that the cover for Moms looks phenomenally awful.

See, I personally enjoy Soundtracks for the Blind. It's a monumental mess of a double album in the best way possible. It's kind of the aftermath of Swans exploding and leaving all of their messy entrails in a pile on the floor.

By the way, while I was writing that ridiculously long shaggy dog joke, and looking into that quote from Eliot's "The Frontiers of Criticism," I came across another passage from it that I think is pretty apropos:

But then you have the potential of overflowing into a "Notes to the Wasteland" type situation where your influences start to become more important than the finished project. Furthermore, there's the possibility of quashing that discovery or spark of recognition when people DO understand what you're alluding to. I wish

Yeah, that's a really weird defense. If a lot of people don't know the guy, then it's arguably worse than if who you stole from is well known. If you steal a few lines from Shakespeare, you could pretty easily play it off as an allusion, but that's harder to do if you know no one has heard of the person. It would seem
