I'l agree with that, though I think I tend to assign self aware silliness to bands that don't really deserve it. The Mars Volta's Frances The Mute is so ludicrous that I just can't fathom that they were remotely serious when they made it. I can't help but listen to it with an enormous smirk on my face.
