The first 20 or so pages of Portrait are really the only thing worth reading. You could rip that out and throw the rest in the garbage.

Tell me one more thing. Why do you mind stealing bread?
I just recently rewatched this and I was totally taken aback at how hilarious Scout's ham costume is. It's a wonder that it hasn't become a Halloween staple, except that it would be difficult to construct and you couldn't use your arms all night.
If you interlibrary loan it, recommend in the form that they get it from DePauw University. I requested it once, and, strangely, it came through Trinity College instead. Because Trinity, rightly, keeps it in their special collections, I couldn't take it out of my university's archives's reading room, couldn't…
Sadly, I don't think they're plugged into anything.
I was looking for some new headphones and went to Best Buy the other day to see their selection. It was paltry. I asked the attendant/clerk/sales person/whatever if they had any headphones with coiled cords. She said, "the only headphones we have like that are Beats by Dre and they're over 400 dollars." She looked…
Oddly, you can inter-library loan it from DePauw University in Indiana. They just have it sitting in the general stacks, apparently. I've checked it out twice, one time even subjecting it to a high intensity bulb.
Well, sort of, but that book is far more graphic than any of Robbe-Grillet's movies.
5 great novels that could not possibly be adapted to the screen:
@avclub-135c8d1b2160644b0b8eda3c0163a2d6:disqus Even thinking about that scene cracks me the hell up. People getting hit in the head is comic gold for me.
@avclub-487cf32249fbaaa5a79258e26d54fe19:disqus That's very true. I forgot to mention that Black Foliage benefits from being splint into four sides. They should've put more space in between the tracks to make that apparent on the CD as it would provide some much needed breathing room.
Black Foliage is an absolutely phenomenal album. I bought it the same day I bought Half Life… I'm not sure I've ever made a better duo of purchases.
something something don't you know you'll stain the carpet?
There's a great compilation called Russkie Wig-Out! Demented Surf / Electro / Exotica from Behind the Iron Curtain. If Obama had something from that… well it probably wouldn't matter, but it would be fun.
@avclub-173af0430bc192b8a027af7cdba82cd7:disqus True. Those bootleg sequel things have been around for ever. Don Quixote had one, hell even Gilgamesh has an extra tablet where Enkidu comes back and takes Gilgamesh on a tour of Hell for some inexplicable reason. The thing is, those sequels almost universally suck.…
No, I haven't listened to the whole clip, and your summary puts Moore's opinion in a different literary tradition than I was assuming he was referring to. So, you're right. I'm wrong.
I'm not really justifying DC's prequel, I'm just saying that Moore aligning himself with this classic literary tradition seems off considering how much rehashing has been done within that tradition.
I understand what he's saying, but if he's trying to draw a direct line between him and storytellers who wove popular myths and, well, really anything into the stories they told then he should probably rethink that comparison. Other people appropriating characters and stories from other authors and building on them is…
It's actually kind of astonishing how boring he is. I felt like no one in the back room where the families were watching even noticed he was there.
While she was sitting, I was rather distracted by the necklace dribbling down into her cleavage, but when she got up to hug someone I was like, Oh! ooohhh…
