At least it wasn't a younger version so long ago that it predated the arrival of cds in computers!

Start with Fables, Life's Rich Pageant and Murmur. You won't be disappointed.

I'm glad you devoted a whole column to this album. Its still the quintessential REM album to me, the one I got into first, back in 1986, when I recorded it off a friends cd (back when cds were new). I agree some of the songs seem to have a moment where they gel, most notably at 2:07 in Feeling Gravity's Pull, and…

Hilarious—like when the ashes blow into the Dude's beard! I had a friend whose wife was complaining that the urn with her mom's ashes had gone missing…she got pissed when her husband insinuated that there was no way of knowing whose ashes you get in the first place from the incinerator "couple of scoops"….
Its certainly the best song on the album
What about Daysleeper?
Totally agree with this, was about to post same. what a clunker.
Yes to Half a World Away and also to Country Feedback

I'm so happy to learn this. Falling down the shaft would be an awful way to go.
Abbey Road.
Just watched that on Youtube. Awesome.
You're an asshole. I lived in Jakarta for four years, its a really cool country. Plus it has Bali. To Rhonest CA, I apologize on behalf of Canada for the Bieb. To the Bieb—get some class.
Just the other day i was skinny dipping with a lady friend of mine when I felt something brush against my thigh…i though "Eureka, Jackie's in luck!". But it was not to be, for it turned out to be a dead mackeral, man. I don't know….it gets you thinking….
I saw them in Toronto on the Monster tour in 1995. They were much better when I saw them in Hong Kong ten years later. The audience was drunk and lively, most people having stumbled over from Hong Kong Stadium (they played on the sunday night of the Rugby Sevens). We were way close to the stage, the sound was…
Paul Kossoff—he was ranked 51st in RS's list of great guitarists. had a nice vibrato. died young, of drugs. His epitaph reads "All Right Now".
Goodbye Firstie
