Anecdotal evidence, but I've had multiple friends give up on the NFL over the dangers and other issues with it, none have given up on baseball.

Relying on the same four pitchers over and over again was being hailed as genius in every other playoff game, I'm glad it came back to bite both teams in the ass in game 7.

im in ur base killing ur dudez

I remember in Civ 1 (the last Civ I played, though I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy this one) conquering everybody but (I think) the Aztecs, then having some difficulty with them. I ended up nuking the shit out of them, spitefully raising sea levels as a result.

I don't really blame Moises Alou for reacting instinctively in the middle of a tense game. It's a different story if he was still salty after the game, though.

Hey, Kepler does in fact meet my exacting standards! So there you go.

Jason Grilli was born and raised in the US and is basically European in the same sense all white dudes are. He played for Team Italy because he's of Italian descent (even his parents are American). Despite Wikipedia's list of players born in Europe, I'm not sure how many of them (if any) were both raised in Europe

I'm not sure there are any European players yet, are there? There was that 7 foot tall Dutch guy in AA but it looks like he may have stalled out. I would say a European major leaguer is inevitable in the near future, though.

Four if you count the handful of Australians!

" I don't follow the Cubs, so I could never really have learned anything… directly from them, still… I think, in a way, in a very meaningful way, that I… all-all of us, have, have learned… from them."

Canada's won it twice!

It's really only the terrible teams that happens to, and isn't indicative of any significant decline. Average attendance per game the past 4 years has been a little over 30,000, which I'd estimate is about 60-75% full (stadiums range in capacity to 35 thousand to 56 thousand). At any rate it's a lot higher than it was

I feel like every thread discussing baseball's popularity inevitably has some troll saying it will have gone under in some absurdly short time period. MLB has the second highest revenue of any sports league in the world, nearly twice as high as the sport behind it and over 10 times as high as MLS. A major decline is

I'd be thrilled if Chapman actually WAS the goat, but instead he's the fucking winning pitcher. It kind of sucks, actually. Wish someone could have done something with one of those flat sliders he was throwing in the 9th…

Dave Roberts had just 3 appearances that postseason, all of them pinch running, but goddamn did he get the most out of that one.

Did they really, though, and can you find any?
Here's the only John Cook tweet I could find on it, and it doesn't have a hint of regret: https://twitter.com/johnjco…

Leaving the legal judgment aside, I don't agree that the good they do excuses the shitty things they do. They really could have done pretty much all the good they did (or 99% of it) without crossing ever crossing the line. I don't see why someone more responsible couldn't continue to do it.

I'm not sure anyone else on their editorial staff has ever admitted to even being remotely in the wrong, on any subject.

Deadspin published the leaked Kate Upton/Justin Verlander nude pics. They took them down under legal threat since they pretty obviously didn't meet whatever threshold of "newsworthiness" anyone can imagine, but of course they would have loved to keep them up if they could (and they instead replaced the pictures with a

He was, long ago… supposedly he had a mid 80's fastball in high school.
