Mac's "just this side of a snuff film" is straight-ripped from Judd Hirsch's rant at the beginning of "Studio 60." Another thing to add to the Sorkinisms montage…

Dylan McDermott was the best thing about this movie. I died at the end when he cloaked himself in the stage's curtain like Dracula.

Okay, this might be true post-his decision to cook meth. I think he's an idiot for this reason (this comes from a previous comment of mine):

I agree with giving a lot of support to Hank; since he and Marie are so in the dark about all of this, it's easy to peg them as the characters with the moral high ground. Skyler has made decisions I wish she hadn't, but her motivations are entirely different.

The entire premise of the show proves Walt is an idiot. "You know, I could take this free money offered to me by my friends, who have good reason to give me money, to pay for my cancer treatments. Seems sensible. OH WAIT NO, let me cook meth in a city riddled with DEA agents, one of whom is my brother-in-law. No,…

Skyler's decision to do those things is not motivated out of criminality or evil, like Walt, but instead out of desperation. If she told people about Walt's cooking, her and her children's life would be sent into a downward spiral. She's nothing like Walt. She didn't give Ted the 600k because she loved him, she gave…

I actually enjoyed this film. It isn't fully formed; I'll give you that. The latter half of the movie could have done without a lot of the flashbacks. But conceptually it's quite appealing, especially for those interested in the art of the con. And in some sense the vagueness of the plot helped the proceedings: did…
I cannot freaking believe the Cult of Hatred that surrounds Skyler. Calling her manipulative is the most disingenuous analysis I've ever heard: the woman is trapped in a life that she didn't choose, and because her husband is a complete fucking idiot (pardon the language, but it's the only word that suffices) she's…

I think what this episode was arguing through the lens of the Osama bin Laden killing was that there is a virtue to breaking a story a certain way. The News Night 2.0 way of doing it is by doing it with credible sources and not merely trying to be the first to say it. The scene with Charlie that you mention was the…

I didn't think this was one of the best episodes of the series, but boy it was a masterclass of acting on Anna Gunn's part. She's been the character I sympathize the most with, and this cemented her as the one I really root for. The scene where Walter, in his most assholeish mode, grills her on what her "plan" is to…

I haven't liked him since the first season. The main reason I keep watching is for the grand episode where all the threads come unraveled and he gets a bullet to the head.
