Fiona won me over when she released this video with Zach Galifianakis back in 2005:

Pia
I hadn't been paying much attention to the show as i was reading, but Pia got mine (aside from me trying to decide if she looked more like Kara Dioguardi or Lea Michelle). Don't like that song, but it was perfect Idol bait. She had one of the better glory notes that i've heard.

The waterslide freakout made me slightly uncomfortable, even though i hated both of them. Contrast that to the sheer joy of Colin & Christie's MY OX IS BROKEN:

The good thing about a regular Amazing Race season relative to other most reality shows is that you have teams of two that have a preexisting relationship. It's often interesting to see how that dynamic plays out between themselves, between them and the other teams, and between the racers and the locals. Due to

I liked the cast just fine. I'm glad that Mr. VDW says that it gets better because i normally wouldn't have lasted through the whole episode.

Disappearing Spoon
My favorite was "The Disappearing Spoon: And Other True Tales of Madness, Love, and the History of the World from the Periodic Table of the Elements":

The Bugle is the single funniest podcast out there.

Where the Hell Is Matt? (2008) song
My favorite new-to-me song of the year is "Praan" performed by Palbasha Siddique in Bengali. It was written as the backing track for 2008's Where the Hell Is Matt? video:

Funny or Die just stole it:

My point was that, with fewer than 3K hits, i caught this in a fairly nascent stage pre-explosion. Given the popularity of AV Club and Bill Simmons (1.3 million twit followers), that was a remarkably small view count. Especially since i only learned of it 3 hours after it was posted in both places.

Bill Simmons to AV Club, or vice versa?
I just posted this a couple hours ago on Facebook after seeing it on Bill Simmons Twitter feed. Given that this still has fewer than 5K hits, it seems that this meme likely went from Bill Simmons to AV Club or vice versa (possibly with one intermediary).

Aimee Mann is good friends with Paul F. Tompkins. She's also created comedy Christmas short movies the last few years involving many of those comedians:

My favorite parts were from the comedians i liked the most going into it (e.g. PFT, Bamford, Fairbanks, Pardo) and i disliked the parts from the ones i disliked (e.g. Dragon Boy Suede, Cracked Out< Neil Hambuger). The Sklar Brothers were disappointing.

Sadly, that was just about the only reference i recognized. I haven't scene The Right Stuff, Apollo 13, nor 2069: A Sex Odyssey, so those were lost on me. I, of course, recognized the iconic slow walk from Deep Space Homer.

Big Money Rustlas (aka ICP: The Movie)
I demand an AV Club scholarly dissertation on the new Insane Clown Posse movie, "Big Money Rustlas":

Dexy's Midnight Runners (their first post)
Dexy's second album ("Too-Rye-Ay") is more than just "the hit"…especially if they're going to call the third LP "sometimes-amazing."

This show is getting less entertaining as the season goes on. Something felt off about the show last night, even compared the old Stand-Up Spotlight-type shows. They main problem was *not* due to the new format…i think the material just wasn't very strong last night.

I don't usually notice fashion at all aside from reading whatever message is on one's t-shirt. Occasionally, i'll notice if a person's clothing looks comfortable or not. Every once in awhile, i can tell if something's trying to be fashionable, but i won't know if it's in fashion (except with Zubaz and Members Only

Koski's fly
What's going on with the fly on Genevieve's jeans?

Unless you're performing in LA (or maybe NYC) and before a particularly comedy savvy crowd (i.e. at the UCB), you don't need to worry about assholes like me in the audience dissecting your comedy.
