That's mostly a function of the fact that no one gives a crap about this show aside from comedy nerds. Even the firstie people can't be bothered.

I like standing up comedy, so this early rounds of this show are useful for exposing me to a lot of different comics of whom i'm not aware. However, it can be difficult to gauge some of them from a heavily edited excerpt of a short set. Some people at AV Club will be more familiar with certain comics, so they can…
Johnagin was the best during prelims
Nikki Glaser's initial "until Tuesday…hold your horses 'nana" abortion joke was decent. The "pro-life" reinterpreted as being "pro-my life" is extremely old. Then again, i've volunteered at Planned Parenthood for over 12 years, so it'll be difficult to come up with much that an…
Times New Viking is one of the few bands i can say that i saw before they got "big"…though big is a relative term. So, no regrets there. I enjoyed them live, though i don't like their albums at all.
The gay guy (Jim David) did an "automated telephone system's sure are annoying to use" joke. You could tell he's an experience performer, but that was too hacky without bringing anything new to it. I liked him a little more in his initial audition, but it still well-worn territory.
Dave Foley is in the second video.
Favorite PFT bits
I think my favorite PFT performance was at SF Sketchfest when he introduced Jimmy Pardo impersonating Gene Rayburn's Old Man Periwinkle character from "The Match Game":
It depends what you mean by "obscure." Paul F. Tompkins and Maria Bamford are about the best things ever. For proof of his genius, here's Tompkins introducing Jimmy Pardo doing Gene Rayburn's Old Man Periwinkle character from "The Match Game":
Natasha Leggero's been around for years and has been on plenty of different shows . She often plays a drunk, for which she has a talent. I've enjoyed her on Comedy Death-Ray and various UCB-type videos. She often has good taste when it comes to other comedians to work with (Chelsea Handler being a *huge* exception…
Kindler was just on Never Not Funny. He's been very critical of the show over the year, as you would expect. He defended being on the show because A) they were going to cut the crap with going to the Playboy Mansion and people being eliminated, in part, because Hef's girlfriends didn't think they were funny; and B)…
Last night was first i watched this season. I found only 20% of it not a waste of time.
Florence and the Machine/why i prefer the auditions
I hadn't heard of them until Miss Koski's link (and then reading her AV Club review). It's not what i normally listen to (a fully-voiced, much better singing Lily Allen/Kate Nash crossed with a variety of other recent, often theatrical acts (e.g. Arcade Fire,…
Brownshirts vs. Browncoats
I didn't know what a browncoat was so i conflated it with brownshirts, the SA Stormtroopers that helped Hitler come to power. In which case, the movie would have been titled: "Brownshirts Redemption: Dawn of the Longer Knives."
Loved Texas up through "White on Blonde." Then they went away from roots-rock into more lush, dance-friendly crap. "The Hush" may be the most disappointed i've ever been with an album upon its release…far exceeding my irritation with Metallica's "Load."
Neko Case on "Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me…"
Ms. Case was on Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me last summer. She was very charming and Neko-like:
@Claude, that's a pretty good list to get both the highlights and the range of different sounds they play. I usually direct potential new fans to their videos, which are among their better songs and provide some insight into their personalities and senses of humor:
The "hey-la" coda of Bleeding Heart Show is my favorite section of music by anyone, superceeding the 60 seconds starting at the 2:45 mark of Sonia Dada's "Screaming John."
Like other people, i have problems with Bejar's voice and his songs, in general. Silver Dollar Jenny is fine, i just don't actively like it. I don't begrudge other people for preferring the Bejar tracks, but they're not to my taste.
First, by "over-produced," i meant the common critical use of the term meaning that the band layer instrument-upon-instrument and harmony-upon-harmony in creating an album. It's quite often applied to a band's third or fourth album when they start adding horns and strings for variety's sake rather than actually…
I prefer Twin Cinema by a little bit over their first two, though it has some major clunkers on it. Challengers is clearly my least favorite. If i had to guess, Together will probably end up being my second favorite among the five.
