The entire Tom Petty songbook consists of five chords, tops.
I'd say it's more willfully weird than those records, at least.
*facepalm*
They just recently alerted me to the awesomeness of Joe Strummer's 'Streetcore' record by covering "Arms Aloft." A friend of mine died much too young a couple of weeks ago, and I wore that album out. It was the only thing that gave me any comfort.
They haven't released an album (aside from these reissues) through Epic Records since 2002, when their contract ran out.
After a while the A-sides started to be the weird stuff — releasing stuff like "Who You Are," "Nothing As It Seems" and so forth seemed purposefully designed to limit their radio play.
Yeah, 'Yield' seemed like the moment they got comfortable being rock stars (in particular, it was that tour where they resigned themselves to working with Ticketmaster). To keep griping that they're petulant or ungrateful or whatever is … understandable, if you haven't kept up with them, but entirely incorrect.
If you're learning guitar, you can't lose by checking out the songs the singer wrote. "Angry Chair," one of the few Alice in Chains song written by Layne Staley alone, is also their easiest song to play by a few miles.
Shortly after 'Vs.' came out I recall a friend of mine saying his favorite song on it was "Thought Police." I was puzzled, as there was no song of that title, and asked him how it went. He said, "You know, 'Thought police! Thought police!'" I gently let him know it was actually "Drop the leash."
Banter!
Say what you will
Andy Taylor is still the best darn sheriff this little town has ever seen.
"willingly paid a lot for a muffler" FTW.
Brown : "Breezy" = Kanye : "Yeezy"
The fact that an enormous number of women still adore this guy is just astounding to me.
He doesn't have a contract to get out of.

"James Arness: Ugly and Stupid." Tonight on "Biography."
'It's Like, You Know …' was one of my favoritest shows ever. If anyone at Dreamworks or ABC or whatever could smuggle me out some DVDs I'd be ever so grateful.
