I always thought that the back-to-back dirges of "I Know It's Over" and "Never Had No One Ever" pulled the album down a couple notches.

A lot of people miss out on Bjork's actual music by focusing on the conceptual trappings. Medulla is actually pretty accessible underneath the "it's all vocals!" stuff, and Biophilia stands alone apart from the apps and the David Attenborough stuff just fine.

She toned down the whimsy about twenty years ago.

Almost ignored them because of the stupid band name, but glad I didn't. They belong in the same "great band, stoopid band name" category as Perfect Pussy and Fuck Buttons.

Agreed, especially since the review cites a lack of "hooks." A lot of the songs on this one definitely grow on you once you figure out how they work. The chopped-up melody of Lionheart, for example.
