I might be in the minority here, but I'm not really a fan of the "Odo hangs out with other Gamma Quadrant aliens and tries to find himself" episodes (Vortex, Abandoned, Chimera, etc.) - they overemphasize this idea that neither quadrant is a perfect match for him

This episode reminded me of the Mad Men season 4 finale - both Walt and Don spent their seasons going to frightening places emotionally, and then pull out of it rather casually in the finale
